McKenzie - March Browns

Spring comes late this year, the March Brown's are now April. This hatch usually signals the start of my trout fishing season on the McKenzie. The river is my place to regroup after the long winter and remind myself why I live in Oregon during the long rainy winter months. If you are interested in a trip, let me know!

Fall Lake Fishing

Fall lake fishing in Oregon is a favorite time of year, the colors are vivid and the air is clear. Fishing with my good friend Jerry, we landed a number of fish on small midges and chironomids using long leaders. If you would like to join us for a trip just a short distance from Portland, give Rob a call at www.watertimeoutfitters.com

Private Waters

Exploring spring creeks in Oregon is something I enjoy very much, especially when I get to fish with my good friend Rob of www.watertimeoutfitters.com This fish was taken on private waters with a "Joe Special" barbell bugger. I love swinging flies and once again proved to be very effective. I am a firm believer in big flies for big fish!

Private Water

Water Time Outfitters has teamed up with folks out of Maupin, OR for exclusive fishing on a private section of river. A heavenly retreat where hungry feisty rainbows live without the pestering of crowds.

Escape to a small stream raft float trip that will remind you of Montana with-out the travel time. Wildlife abounds in this beautiful valley of towering cottonwoods, pine and buttes. Every day we see deer, ducks and other wildlife. This fishery is close to the Deschutes River and the opportunity for Steelhead one day on the Deschutes followed by a great trout trip on this little river and even some upland bird hunting come together for a great combination.

Be one of the first clients to experience this secret hideaway. Lodging is available at our ranch cabin nearby.

Standard fee for private waters fishing for 2 anglers includes: shore side BBQ lunch, float trip, guide’s secret flies, any fishing equipment (schedule in advance). The cost for this trips is: $550

Lodging and 1 day fishing is: $695

For you bird hunters ask about great packages for a cast-n-blast opportunity. Steelhead are IN on the Deschutes River (only a couple miles away). Combine a day of Steelhead fishing and trout fishing and stay at the ranch house. What could be better!

Monic Fly Line

Water Time Outfitters teamed up with Monic Fly Lines to bring you an exclusive new line developed by Rob Crandall especially for small stream and river steelhead fishing!

For many years Rob would cut the end taper off a double taper 8 or 9 weight line to get it to perform correctly with an indicator and weighted fly rig so common on many NW small streams. Monic has fixed that problem by creating an extreme front taper on the double taper line. This helps smoothly transition the energy from the body of your fly line to the leader.

The best part is the new line is not only a floating line in the correct taper but CLEAR! That’s right it is clear and nearly invisible to fish. We have found that this line increases our catch when water conditions are low and clear. If you have spooky fish in clear water, this is the line you need!
